RIDE NOTES…
Went to Lakeside Sports in Del Rio, TX this morning for some bicycle repairs. I have been having a very subtle clicking issue in my pedals or crank somewhere. Jesus at the bike shop could not find the clicking issue and he said to not worry about it until it gets worse. Lakeside Sports was a good reputable dealer.
I rode the first 20 miles or so by myself towards Brackettville, TX, then caught up with Jazael and Cheyenne. 10 miles later during a break I discovered I had a broken spoke. Luckily Jazael had an emergency spoke kit. Its a Kevlar string made to replace any length spoke temporarily until permanent repairs can be made. It took about 2 hours to get it fixed but then we were on our way and we all rode the last 8 miles into Brackettville, TX. The repair seems to be holding up well. The closest bike shop is 116 miles away in San Antonio, TX so I plan to take it as easy as I can until then where I can have it fixed properly. Jazael seems to think it will hold up just fine and he has a lot more experience with this stuff than me.
I rode past Laughlin Air Force Base today. Lots of cool history there!!!
I checked into the Fort Clark Motel and went to Subway for late lunch/early supper. Cheyenne stayed in the campground and Jazael stayed in the room with me since I have an extra bed.

Glad you have your sag team riders with you to do repairs. Also great to hear your updates. Wait, quiet Tom Gray mingling with the locals. Way to Go……………….
All by myself again. One rider went North thru hill country and the other went South to Mexico, and I’m going East to San Antonio for bike repairs. I’m sure there will be others, but everybody has to ride there own ride and pace.
Interesting to see that Jesus is now into doing bike repairs. With the state of the world today, I guess that soul-saving stuff is not going too well.
Ride on my friend! My dietitian wife would tell you that man cannot live on Wendy’s Frosties alone but with all the calories you’re burning, why not go for it.

I never really thought of myself as being religious at all. I’ve just always treated people the same way I would expect to be treated, but at times strange things happen. 1st “Jesus” suggested I really did not need any bike repairs, and just today I met “Angel” in downtown San Antonio that rode with me about 2 miles to avoid a flooded area and help me get back on the correct route to get me out of the city. Really makes you wonder???
Go buy a lottery ticket. It’s not every day you meet Jesus and an Angel in the same day.
Tom, good morning. I see by your “Track Tom” icon that you’re in Flatonia, TX. Know it all too well. Got stranded at a rest area there over a day with a flat tire on my moterhome. Thanks to Smiley’s Tire Service, they came out and rescued us. Hope you get thru town without another flat, but if you do, call Smiley’s. I found it ironic that we got the flat in Flat-onia. Be safe good buddy and I’ll call you soon.
