RIDE NOTES…
Another long day of riding (65 miles). Yuma, AZ to Dateland, AZ. Easy day of riding along the interstate today. High of 95 degrees with full sun all day. I averaged my fastest speed at over 10 MPH today. Passed through a Border Patrol checkpoint on I-8 east of Yuma, AZ and spoke briefly with the CBP officer about my trip to Florida. As usual he said I was crazy. I told him most people think I am! Bart met me in Wellton, AZ for lunch at the Jack In The Box and then I pushed on to Dateland, AZ. We couldn’t find any lodging in Dateland, AZ so I loaded the bike into the car and Bart drove me on to Gila Bend, AZ. Tomorrow morning he’ll bring me back to Dateland, AZ and I’ll ride to Gila Bend, AZ. Had a monster dinner of spaghetti and meatballs at Little Italy restaurant., it was excellent. Got a room at the Best Western Space Age Lodge. Strange place, but all and all very nice and clean.
