RIDE NOTES…
Jazael and I went to breakfast at a small café. It was very good, but if you don’t like Mexican food this is definitely not the part of the country you want to visit. After breakfast Jazael decided to head south to Mexico, I stayed on I-90 towards San Antonio, TX, and from texting Cheyenne she went towards Kerrville, TX via hill country. We are all on our own once again, but who knows where we might meet up again between here and St. Augustine, FL.
Rode 40 miles from Brackettville, TX to Uvalde, TX today, stopping every few miles to check on my temporary spoke repair. All seems good so far. There is a bicycle repair shop in San Antonio, TX which is 76 miles away, so I should be there by noon on Saturday to get a new spoke, true my wheel, and tune up a few other minor items. I also plan to buy new pedals as mine seem to be cheaply made and make a clicking sound. Its nothing to cause a breakdown but it is getting very annoying.
I checked into the Americas Best Motel. The motel isn’t a bad place; I inspected my bike, tightened the pedals, lubed the chain, and took a shower. I walked next door to Burger King for an early supper.
Even with the headwinds, bad roads, dirty motels, and breakdowns; this is still an amazing trip and it is impossible to explain to someone who doesn’t have the desire for such an adventure.
