RIDE NOTES…
Woke up to 43 degrees this morning so I waited until it warmed up a bit before starting my ride from Benson, AZ to Wilcox, AZ. I started off the day with my big breakfast from McDonalds. Anyone who knows me knows that’s my #1 favorite breakfast. Its been pretty windy and I saw a snowplow with his blade down pushing sand off of the highway yesterday.
The day started off good until I got another flat tire. This time it was the back tire which was a bit more difficult to change, but I found a piece of wire in the tire so at least I know what caused it this time. Saw my first live snake stretched out across my path today. Not sure what it was but Bart thinks its a colubrid snake, also called a glossy snake or faded snake, I only missed him by an inch! Any snake people out there wanna comment?
GOT ANOTHER FLAT TIRE (on the back again) about a mile from the hotel and decided to just walk to the hotel. I went to ace hardware to see if they had any tubes but no luck and they didn’t know of anyone in town that had any. I do have one left in my bag but tomorrow is a 74 mile day and I hate to head out without any tubes considering the luck I’ve had so far. I called Bart and he still has his new pilots in school at Flight Safety in Tucson, AZ. Ryan Cheney went to Ajo Bikes and bought me some new tubes and is gonna drive them out to me tomorrow at 7:15. What would I do without Bart’s support? Ryan spoke to the guy at Ajo Bikes and he recommended better more heavy duty tubes for what I’m doing. Apparently the tubes I’ve been using are pretty cheap and not real durable. I’m gonna change the tube in the morning with the new heavy duty one and we’ll see how long it lasts.
I went to Subway for dinner and stopped at a truck stop on my way back to get some more water and energy drinks. Gonna watch the election results and head to bed. Long ride tomorrow.

I’m in Fort Hancock, Texas. Terrible headwinds the last 2 days. Actually only went 26 miles today due to cold 43 degrees this morning and strong headwinds. Bart actually does the updates and he’s been busy lately. Hopefully he’ll get it caught up soon.
