RIDE NOTES…
Had a nice full breakfast at the Space Age restaurant at the Best Western and Bart drove me out to Dateland, AZ to pick up where I stopped yesterday. Another hot day but fairly easy. 50 miles in 5 hours all along I-8 into Gila Bend, AZ. Met 2 other guys on long distance rides today. First guy was on a 5 day tour around Arizona. The second guy I passed is doing the same southern tier ride as me in the opposite direction. He claimed to be on crazyguyonabike.com but I’m not sure who he is. Rode past the largest solar farm in the world today, Solana Generating Station. I met Bart at the hotel in Gila Bend, AZ and we went for a drive to scout tomorrows ride. I could ride NE on Maricopa Rd. through the town of Maricopa, AZ and then SE on Maricopa Casa Grande Hwy or stay on I-8, they both end up in Casa Grande, AZ. After seeing both routes I think I will stay on the interstate. The alternate route isn’t bad but its a LONG steady climb and then descent into Casa Grande, AZ. Another big plate of spaghetti and meatballs at Little Italy and then off to bed by 8PM. That really is a great Italian restaurant!
