RIDE NOTES…
I left Spring, TX at 0700 due to afternoon rain in the forecast. I stopped at a Trek store in Atascocita, Texas after about 20 miles for some bike repairs.
A word on bicycle shops… I have been to 4 different bike shops since I left San Diego, CA and they have all been great! They seem to all be very accommodating and extremely professional. The bike shop I stopped at today was by far the best yet. The Bike Barn of Atascocita, TX opened early and took care of my needs immediately. Due to several broken spokes, Ben McQuade, Service Manager, suggested that my rear wheel was beyond repair. Ben installed a refurbished wheel and replace my horrible looking rear tire with a new one. He also installed new pedals to fix the annoying clicking sound. Ben completed all of this work in less than an hour and charged me absolutely nothing for his parts or his labor. Thank you Ben!!! This was by far the best bike shop I have been to yet! While at the Bike Barn I met a guy who said he was going to do an article on me for his local VFW post.
I finished my ride to Liberty, TX and checked into the Luxury Inn. It started to rain immediately after I got to my room. There was absolutely nothing to eat nearby and with rain in the forecast I ordered my first Dominos Pizza of the trip, did some laundry and went to bed.
