RIDE NOTES…
58 miles today from Denham Springs, LA to Covington, LA. Varying road conditions today. From excellent roads with wide berms to terrible roads with no berms at all with very heavy traffic. The road conditions seem to very depending on which parish you’re riding through. Some parish’s are great and seem to be very bike friendly and others are poorly built and you can tell they have had almost no maintenance. Tonight should be my last night in Louisiana.
Due to the holiday weekend I made reservations early for a Best Western in Covington, LA. The Best Western is a nice place but I had to settle for a 2nd floor room with no elevator. This made it kind of difficult getting my bike up a flight of stairs; especially after riding it all day. My bike is somewhat of a heavier bike to begin with and all the gear and bags on it really adds up.
Went to Burger king for supper and then did some laundry to hopefully kill all of the bugs that have clung to me and my clothes the last few days. Some of the hotels I have had to stay in have left much to be desired in the way of cleanliness. In lots of these smaller towns you just don’t have much choice in places to stay.
