RIDE NOTES…
65 mile ride today from Pascagoula, MS to Gulf Shores, AL. I had breakfast at the waffle house next to my hotel and then rode an easy 41 miles to the ferry. I took the ferry across Mobile Bay from Dauphin Island to Fort Morgan. There was a noon ferry and I arrived just in time. The ferry operator parked my and my bike next to a sign that said President Obama had stood in that exact spot in 2001, but who really cares? Does this need a plaque?? Maybe President Trump will take all this crap down on his first few days in office.
I left Fort Morgan at 1 PM for the next 24 miles to the Microtel Inn in Gulf Shores, AL. It was a pretty easy ride up until the last few miles where the roads and bridges had no bike lanes.
Checked into the Microtel and there was nothing close by for food, so I went to the gas station for drinks and hot dogs. It was very hot and sunny today – 90 degrees in full sun.
