RIDE NOTES…
Fairly uneventful day of riding today from Lordsburg, NM to Deming, NM. Left very early, 06:30, due to a high wind forecast for late morning. No supper last night so I had a big breakfast at McDonalds. It did become windy but it was more of a cross/tail wind so it wasn’t bad at all. I crossed the continental divide today on I-10 at an elevation of about 4600′. All downhill from here right?! I was approached by another teenage Mexican boy yelling something in Spanish. He was coming from the direction of a stopped freight train. Again I assume he was harmless but without knowing I just pedaled a bit harder until he was out of sight. Mike from Tucson has called several times to check on me, what a nice guy. His wife even called me once to check in. I arrived in Deming, NM at 1:30 PM and tried to find lodging near a store for supplies and also near somewhere to eat. This can be a difficult task sometimes, and tonight is one of those times. I decided to stay at the Grand Hotel which is nice but there really isn’t much nearby. I walked to Walmart for drinks and snacks, then stopped at Wendy’s for supper on the way back. Both were about 1/2 mile from my hotel.
All 3 flat tires I’ve had have been in Arizona so from now on Arizona is gonna be “The Flat Tire State”
