RIDE NOTES…
Woke up to heavy fog and therefore didn’t leave Seguin, TX until after 0900. The day started out as an easy uneventful 15 miles, then I had an hour of light rain, then google maps routed me on a dirt road for 4 miles. Eventually I ended up on route 90 and was on my way to Flatonia, TX.
A word on dogs… So far Texas has had the worst dog owners. Many dogs loose and not being watched; just waiting to chase a bike rider. I haven’t gotten any bites yet, but its been annoying and pretty scary at times.
I met a young boy today and gave him my website. He said he has a computer and knows how to use it. He said he was gonna go home and look at my site as soon as he got there. Maybe he’s reading this right now?? Hello!
If I ever wrote a book about my trip (which I have no intention of doing, yet…) I think I would name it “Coast to Coast at 8MPH”. Its hard to even explain this trip, but after riding it I think I could explain it much better than any of the 7 books I read on long distance riding.
I checked in to the Carefree Inn, took a shower and went to McDonalds for some food. Then I went back to my room to watch the Oregon & Kentucky primaries, and Donald Trumps interview with Megyn Kelly.
Seems to be somewhat of a confusing route tomorrow. I plan to get back on the Adventure Cyclists route in La Grange, TX, but I’m having a hard time finding lodging. It’s pretty much a full time job in itself trying to stay a few days ahead of the ride, finding food, lodging, etc… 50 miles a day may not seem like much, but on a bicycle its a whole different world.
