RIDE NOTES…
Today was an easy 49 mile ride from Pensacola, FL to Crestview, FL but there was no decent place to stay along SR90. I have found that all of the Indian run motels are the same; the office stinks and the rooms are dirty. It seems all of these businesses that advertise “American Owned” are actually “Indian Owned” and I’d prefer to not give them my business. So, I rode another 4 miles through heavy traffic and no bike lane to find a decent hotel near I-10. Its a Super 8 but it meets my simple needs.
It was another hot humid day, but this is Florida in June. After checking into the hotel I immediately went to a convenience store for chocolate milk and energy drinks. I normally stop at McDonalds for an ice cream cone, but of all days, the machine was broken today.
There was no place for supper without fighting heavy traffic, so tonight was chips and beer from the gas station and then early to bed as usual. With this heat and humidity its easy to sleep 10 hours per day.
The plan is to ride 68 miles to Chipley, FL tomorrow. I plan to leave early to make this happen.
